Monty Python's Spamalot is a progressive jackpot pokie that is based on the Spamalot musical which in turn is "lovingly ripped off from" from the 1975 hit film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The game features two progressive jackpots and six different features.
Betting Limits
Credit sizes start at 1c and go up to $50 at some casinos so you can play for as little as 20c a spin or a much as $1000. Most casinos set their limits lower with a top bet of $50 being the average.
Wild Symbol
The Holy Grail symbol is the wild and it can pay up to 5,000 credits if you manage to line up five. The wild substitutes for everything but the scatters and the Jackpot Game symbols during the free spins.
Free Spins
Getting three or more of the blue Spamalot scatters gives you 10 free spins and a chance to win entry into the Jackpot Game where you stand a chance of winning the progressive jackpots.
During the free games up to five extra wild symbols can be added to the screen on every spin. This can work out very well as it can give you five wilds (See the preview video above for an example).
On the feature there are Jackpot Game symbol on the middle reel and you need to collect five to win a chance at the jackpots.
The Jackpot Game
If you collect the five symbols required on the free spins you move to the Jackpot Game where the aim is to get to the top of the screen and win one of the jackpots. The progressive start at US$200 for the "Slightly Less Holy Grail" and a big US$100,000 for the Holy Grail jackpot.
The jackpot values are seeded in USD so if you play in any other currency the jackpots are converted to your currency. This is a slightly weird way of doing things as the actual jackpot totals go up or down in value based on daily currency fluctuations.
The feature has six stages where on each stage you have to pick one item that either reveals a win or a foot stomps down on you and ends the feature. Get to the 6th stage, choose correctly and you win one of the progressives.
Theatre Act Features
During the regular spins an special bonus symbol appears on the first and last reel. Get both in any position on the screen and you win one of four features. Just like a theatre act the bonuses play out in order and repeat once you've played them all.
The wins on these bonuses are never very big but they are quite humorous and do keep things interesting. The features are;
Act 1 : Storm the Castle
Choose from 1 of 6 spots to hide the knights while cows are thrown from the castle. Each times you avoid getting hit by the cows you get an instant prize.
Act 2 : None Shall Pass
The brave knight from the Holy Grail is back and this time it's you doing the chopping. You get four tries to remove limbs with wins based on the amount of successful hits.
Act 3 : Knights Who Say Ni
Select Shrubbery and the knights will offer you a cash prize. If you're not happy you can try again up to two more times although there is no guarantee that the next pick will be better.
Act 4 : Killer Rabbit
Guide the knights past the killer rabbit by selecting a rock. Each unsuccessful pick lowers the win so you want to find the rabbit quickly.
